COMMUNITY & SCHOOLS 

Basketball is the fastest growing sport in the world and the most popular sport, after football. Part of our vision at the Suns is to make this wonderful sport accessible to every child in the Southeast. To achieve this ambitious goal, the Suns run a series of school programs and development initiatives within the wider community.

The Sevenoaks Suns have a strong bond with the local communities in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, and Royal Tunbridge Wells. We run multiple weekly development sessions in each of these communities where more than 200 kids have fun while learning and playing, in a safe (and weatherproof!) environment.

Our qualified coaches help schools to provide proper basketball education to their students. We run both curricular and extra-curricular programmes at primary and secondary schools. For the last 15 years, we have taught basketball to 1000s of kids, in more than 25 schools.

Suns players and coaches have hundreds of appearances as players and coaches on national teams (both England and GB). Our Women’s British Basketball League Team are, for the third consecutive year, British national champions.  We offer visits from our WBBL and national Team players  at school assemblies and other events.  These events can be powerful motivational tools.  Since many of these players have played and studied abroad, they bring a breadth of experience which many kids find most engaging.
